This Editorial Policy explains how Mellow Kids AB (“Mellow Kids,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) creates, reviews, and updates educational content published through our website, mobile application, emails, newsletters, and other communication channels.
1. Our purpose
Mellow Kids creates practical, evidence-informed information to help parents and caregivers understand children’s sleep, temperament, routines, and development.
Our content is designed primarily for families with children from birth to two years of age. It is intended to support informed parenting decisions, not to prescribe one method for every child or family.
2. Editorial independence
We aim to present information accurately, clearly, and without unnecessary alarm.
Our editorial decisions are based on:
- relevance to parents and caregivers;
- recognised child-development and behavioural sleep principles;
- available scientific research;
- guidance from credible healthcare and public-health organisations;
- professional experience; and
- the practical needs of families.
Commercial considerations do not determine the conclusions of our educational content.
3. Authors and contributors
Sleep-related content is created or overseen by professionals with relevant knowledge, training, or experience, including certified sleep consultants.
Some content may also be reviewed by a pediatric nurse or another appropriately qualified professional where the subject would benefit from that expertise.
We do not claim that every item has received medical or pediatric review. Where a professional review is specifically stated, that statement applies only to the identified content and version.
4. Sources and evidence
When appropriate, we consult sources such as:
- peer-reviewed research;
- recognised medical or scientific publications;
- national and international public-health authorities;
- professional organisations; and
- established child-safety and development guidance.
We consider the quality, relevance, publication date, and limitations of a source. We may translate technical findings into plain language, but aim not to change their essential meaning.
Research concerning infant and toddler sleep can be limited, evolving, or open to different interpretations. When evidence is uncertain, we aim to communicate that uncertainty rather than present one approach as universally correct.
5. Medical and safety boundaries
Mellow Kids provides educational and behavioural support. Our editorial content does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
We do not publish content intended to replace individual advice from a doctor, pediatrician, nurse, or other qualified healthcare professional.
Content involving health or safety concerns should direct families to an appropriate healthcare professional or public-health authority when necessary.
Parents and caregivers should follow current safe-sleep recommendations in their country and the individual guidance provided by their child’s healthcare professionals.
For further information, please read our Disclaimer.
6. Personalization in the app
Some app features present age-based or personalized information using details entered by the user, including a child’s age and sleep-tracking information.
Features such as suggested schedules and Smart Predictions use rules-based calculations and content developed by the Mellow Kids team. They do not make medical diagnoses and are not a substitute for professional healthcare advice.
Personalized app outputs may change as the user records new information. Because every child is different, these outputs should be understood as practical suggestions rather than guaranteed or universally applicable instructions.
7. Personalized consultancy services
A personalized sleep plan or consultation is different from our general editorial content.
Consultancy recommendations are prepared using information supplied by the customer and are adapted to the family’s circumstances. However, they remain behavioural and educational services rather than medical care.
Editorial articles and app content cannot account for all circumstances affecting an individual child. Customers purchasing a consultancy service should provide complete and accurate information and raise relevant health concerns before following a plan.
8. Artificial intelligence
Mellow Kids does not use generative artificial intelligence to independently write or approve published health or sleep guidance without human oversight.
Where AI-assisted tools are used in our internal workflow, a responsible human remains accountable for checking the content before publication.
The app may use an AI service to interpret
