The story behind Mellow Kids
When I became a mother, I experienced how fragile sleep can be, and how overwhelming the advice around it often is. I followed the recommended courses and methods, but they felt rigid and disconnected from real life.
What struck me most was how sleep was treated in isolation. Developmental stages, emotional growth, and cognitive leaps were rarely considered. Even though they directly impact how a child sleeps.
With a background in user experience design, I immersed myself in sleep science and child development, ultimately becoming certified Pediatric Sleep. Supporting families one-on-one revealed a clear pattern: parents didn’t need more generic tracking and advice. They needed personalized, just-in-time guidance that adapts as their child grows.
As a father of two, sleep was not theoretical. It shaped our everyday life.
Our first child struggled with sleep for more than two years. We tried courses, methods, and advice from every direction. At one point, we were even offered medical interventions that did not address what we felt was truly happening. It was exhausting and, at times, discouraging.
That experience left a lasting impression on me. I saw how easily families can feel lost between conflicting recommendations, quick fixes, and solutions that do not fit their child.
When I learned about what Mellow was building, I immediately recognized the need. This wasn’t just another app. It was a mission close to my heart and one I wanted to help shape. With my background in technology and product development, I co-founded Mellow Kids to build something we wished had existed for our own family.
